Domaine Curry: Wine & Basketball

It is no secret that women are the backbone of every family. This week we are honoring basketball royalty by featuring Domaine Curry, Black-owned wines created by the beautiful Black women of the Curry family, Ayesha Curry and Sydel Curry-Lee, who are the wife and sister of one of our favorite basketball players, Steph Curry.

Inspired by the proverb, Femme 31 (or the “ideal woman”), Sydel and Ayesha sought to create wines that represent the virtue, loyalty, independence, and strength of all the Black women in their family who raised them. These lovely women teamed up with John Schwartz’s Coup de Foudre Winery (pronounced koo dah foo drah) of Napa Valley to bring you refined wines that embody the true essence of the Curry women. In 2015, Domain Curry gained much recognition for their bold and balanced Cabernet Sauvignon to be enjoyed during the Fall season. This medium-full body red is packed with velvety tannins, notes of blackberry, blueberry, and cherry, and hints of lavender, achieving a 95-point score from James Suckling for its integrity and fullness. Shortly after, the Curry’s released their full-bodied Sauvignon Blanc (94-pt., James Suckling) in 2018. This serious and sophisticated white exudes notes of dried lemon, grapefruit, and tropical fruits with hints of hot stones, cedar, and lavender, making it the perfect wine to enjoy during a Spring picnic with family and close friends. So don’t hesitate to purchase these eloquent wines online at a price of $105 per bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon and $45 per bottle of Sauvignon Blanc.
